Les gratte-ciels façonnent le paysage urbain et témoignent du savoir-faire architectural. Grâce au béton préfabriqué, leur construction gagne en rapidité, tout en offrant une infinité de formes et de textures. Le 3 septembre, levons les yeux vers le ciel et célébrons la Journée mondiale des gratte-ciels à travers 10 projets portant la marque de BPDL.
Au fil des ans, le savoir-faire des architectes et concepteurs d’ici s’illustre à travers des tours vertigineuses qui prennent leur place dans le ciel montréalais. Voici cinq projets auxquels BPDL est fier d’avoir participé dans la métropole.

Cet immeuble de 64 étages atteignant 200 mètres domine l’horizon du centre-ville de Montréal et se démarque par sa signature architecturale.
Solution BPDL : Dans ce projet, BPDL a mis en œuvre plusieurs volets de son savoir-faire, en débutant par une conception assistée (Design Assist) échelonnée sur plusieurs mois. Les fenêtres installées en usine ont permis d’éliminer une étape au chantier.
Architectes : Le Groupe Architex | Chevalier Morales
Entrepreneur : Groupe Canvar
Élégante et moderne, cette tour de 50 étages mesurant 167 mètres est située au cœur de la ville de Montréal, au Centre Bell.
Solution BPDL : L’intégration de granit et d’autres types de finitions obtenues par sablage ont été utilisées sur les panneaux architecturaux dont certains sont de type sandwich (offrant une isolation entre deux parois de béton). Les fenêtres ont été installées en usine.

Entrepreneur : Reliance Construction
Prix et distinctions : Ce projet s'est illustré sur la scène immobilière québécoise en remportant le prestigieux Grand Prix du Génie-Conseil Québécois en 2017 pour l'excellence de son ingénierie structurelle. Reconnu pour son architecture moderne et son intégration au centre-ville, il a accumulé d'autres distinctions avec ses phases 2 et 3.
Cette tour de 38 étages d’une hauteur de 128 mètres est un bel exemple d’architecture moderne inspirée du style Art déco.
Solution BPDL : De la pierre de Beauval a été intégrée dans certaines parties du revêtement. Ici aussi, les éléments de béton préfabriqués ont été prévitrés en usine.

Entrepreneur : NCK
Prix et distinctions : L’immeuble a remporté le Prix d’excellence de l’American Concrete Institute(ACI) dans la catégorie « Bâtiments de grande hauteur » et a aussi obtenu une certification « Silver » dans la catégorie « Résidentiel - Immeubles à appartements et condos de 10 étages ou plus », ainsi qu’une mention « Bronze » pour « Architecture + Béton » lors de la 17e édition des Grands Prix du Design.
Nos équipes ont repoussé les limites de leur savoir-faire pour répondre au souhait des architectes de créer un effet de cubes en quinconce sur la façade de cette tour de 38 étages et 112 mètres. Cette vision s’est concrétisée à travers des éléments de béton préfabriqué qui forment des balcons encadrés de haut en bas.
Solution BPDL : Les panneaux architecturaux présentent différentes textures, certains intégrant un granit adouci ou poli ou encore du verre de vision.
Prix et distinctions : Le complexe Humaniti a reçu un Lauréat Platine aux Grands Prix du Design 2023, un Lauréat Architecture Masterprize 2022 et un Lauréat CTBUH Award of Excellence 2022. Il a aussi remporté le Prix d'excellence 2021 de l'American Concrete Institute (ACI) pour le bâtiment de grande hauteur.

Cet élégant gratte-ciel de 112 mètres, totalise 37 étages et a été construit en 2007.
Solution BPDL : La particularité de ce projet repose notamment sur l’utilisation de la technologie Slenderwall®, qui a permis de réduire la charge morte sur la structure. Le béton de couleur anthracite et les pierres noires apportent un cachet particulier au projet.

Entrepreneur : Groupe Canvar
New York est sans contredit le royaume des gratte-ciels. Le béton préfabriqué y fait sa place grâce à ses qualités intrinsèques. Voici cinq projets de gratte-ciels réalisés à New York.

Avec ses 82 étages, cet immeuble situé à Manhattan est définitivement le plus imposant projet de gratte-ciel réalisé par BPDL. Ce bâtiment résidentiel est considéré comme le 2e plus grand de la ville, atteignant 282 mètres (926 pieds).
Solution BPDL : L’enveloppe de cette tour a nécessité la production de 2018 panneaux architecturaux. Le projet intègre des faux-joints, du limestone et du béton apparent, ainsi que des terrasses en retrait.

Entrepreneur : Tishman Construction Company
Cet immeuble de 57 étages et 188 mètres de haut, lui aussi situé à New York, est un autre projet emblématique pour BPDL. Les unités de façades festonnées confèrent un aspect original et remarquable à l’ensemble.
Solution BPDL : Sur une période de 18 mois, BPDL a produit environ 1205 panneaux de béton préfabriqué de béton blanc de formes variées. Les fenêtres ont été installées en usine.
Prix et distinctions : Ce projet a remporté l'Excellence Award et le Best in Competition de l'AIA Brooklyn Design Awards 2023, l'Honor Award for Architecture de l'AIA New York 2023, un Editors'Pick des Architect's Newspaper Best of Design Awards 2022 (catégorie résidentielle multi-unités), le Building Award du Precast/Prestressed Concrete Institute (meilleur immeuble multifamilial, 2022), le Gold Award for Engineering Excellence de l'ACEC (2021) et un Merit Award pour le design paysager de l'ASLA New York (2024).

Entrepreneur : Triton Construction Company
Difficile de rester indifférent devant ce gratte-ciel de 41 étages et 142 mètres de style « gothique moderne » reflétant la tradition universitaire et culturelle du West Side de Manhattan.
Solution BPDL : L’intégration en usine de briques minces durant le procédé de fabrication des panneaux de béton ainsi que les fenêtres installées en usine ont éliminé certaines étapes au chantier.

Entrepreneur : Lend Lease
Deux tours respectivement de 30 et 40 étages — d’une hauteur de 91 et 122 mètres — associées à un bâtiment inférieur de sept étages, composent ce somptueux ensemble résidentiel et commercial.
Solution BPDL : L’enveloppe des tours et du podium est constituée de panneaux de béton préfabriqué sculptés par une série de plans inclinés entourés de grandes fenêtres.

Entrepreneur : Brookfield Properties
Prix et distinctions : Le projet Greenpoint Landing a reçu plusieurs récompenses majeures, dont un Award of Merit en 2019, une nomination aux ULINY Awards en 2022, et le Building the Future Award en 2024. Son bâtiment emblématique — Eagle + West — a également obtenu en 2022 le Diamond Award for Structural Engineering. Ces distinctions illustrent son excellence architecturale et son engagement en développement durable.
Parmi nos récents projets à New York, ce gratte-ciel de 31 étages atteignant 113 mètres est l’un des plus hauts du quartier Upper East Side, à Manhattan.
Solution BPDL : Les panneaux architecturaux en béton préfabriqué présentent un design cannelé sur les colonnes, accentuant la verticalité de la structure.

Entrepreneur : Cauldwell Wingate

Skyscrapers shape the urban landscape and showcase architectural expertise. Thanks to precast concrete, they can be built faster, while offering an infinite variety of shapes and textures. On September 3, let's look up to the sky and celebrate WorldSkyscraper Day with 10 projects bearing the BPDL mark.
Over the years, the expertise of local architects and designers has been showcased in the form of towering skyscrapers that now dominate the Montreal skyline. Here are five projects in the city that BPDL is proud to have been involved in.

This 64-story building, reaching 656 feet (200 meters), dominates the downtown Montreal skyline and stands out for its architectural signature.
BPDL solution: In this project, BPDL implemented several aspects of its expertise, beginning with a design assist process that spanned several months. Factory-installed windows eliminated one step on the construction site.
Architects : Le Groupe Architex | Chevalier Morales
Contractor : Groupe Canvar
Elegant and modern, this 50-story tower measuring 548 feet (167 meters) is located in the heart of Montreal, at the Bell Centre.
BPDL solution: Granite and other types of sandblasted finishes were used on the architectural panels, some of which are sandwich panels (providing insulation between two concrete walls). The windows were factory-installed.

Contractor: Reliance Construction
Awards and distinctions: This project made a name for itself in the Quebec real estate scene by winning the prestigious Grand Prix du Génie-Conseil québécois in 2017 for the excellence of its structural engineering. Recognized for its modern architecture and integration into the city center, it has accumulated other distinctions for phases 2 and 3.
This 38-story tower, standing 420 feet (128 meters) tall, is a fine example of modern architecture inspired by the Art Deco style.
BPDL solution: Beauval stone was incorporated into certain parts of the cladding. Here too, the precast concrete elements were pre-glazed in the factory.

Awards and distinctions: The building won the American Concrete Institute (ACI) Award of Excellence in the “High-Rise Buildings” category and also obtained a ‘Silver’ certification in the "Residential - Apartment Buildings and Condos of 10 Stories or More" category, as well as a ‘Bronze’ mention for "Architecture + Concrete" at the 17th edition of the Grands Prix du Design.
Our teams pushed the boundaries of their expertise to meet the architects' desire to create a staggered cube effect on the facade of this 38-story, 367-feet (112-meter) tower. This vision was realized through precast concrete elements that form balconies framed from top to bottom.
BPDL solution: The architectural panels feature different textures, some incorporating honed or polished granite or vision glass.
Awards and distinctions: The Humaniti complex received a Platinum Award at the 2023 Design Awards, a 2022 Architecture Masterprize, and a 2022 CTBUH Award of Excellence. It also won the American Concrete Institute (ACI) 2021 Award of Excellence for high-rise buildings.

This elegant 368-feet (112-meter) skyscraper has 37 floors and was built in 2007.
BPDL solution: A key feature of this project is the use of Slenderwall® technology, which reduced the dead load on the structure. The anthracite-colored concrete and black stones give the project a distinctive look.

New York is undoubtedly the kingdom of skyscrapers. Precast concrete has found its place there thanks toits intrinsic qualities. Here are five skyscraper projects completed in New York.

With its 82 floors, this Manhattan building is definitely BPDL's most impressive skyscraper project to date. This residential building is considered the second tallest in the city, reaching 925 feet (282 meters).
BPDL solution: The tower's envelope required the production of 2,018 architectural panels. The project incorporates false joints, limestone and exposed concrete, as well as recessed terraces.

Contractor : Tishman Construction Company
This 57-story, 617-feet-highbuilding (188 meters), also located in New York, is another iconic project for BPDL. The scalloped facade units give the building an original and striking appearance.
BPDL solution: Over an 18-month period, BPDL produced approximately 1,205 precast white concrete panels in a variety of shapes. The windows were installed in the factory.
Awards and distinctions: This project won the ExcellenceAward and Best in Competition at the 2023 AIA Brooklyn Design Awards, the Honor Award for Architecture from AIA New York 2023, an Editors' Pick at the Architect's Newspaper Best of Design Awards 2022 (multi-unit residential category), the Precast/Prestressed Concrete Institute's Building Award (Best Multifamily Building, 2022), the ACEC's Gold Award for Engineering Excellence (2021), and an ASLA New York Merit Award for Landscape Design (2024).

It's hard to remain indifferent to this 41-story, 466-feet (142-meter) "modern Gothic" skyscraper, which reflects the academic and cultural tradition of Manhattan's West Side.
BPDL solution: The factory integration of thin bricks during the concrete panel manufacturing process and factory-installed windows eliminated certain steps on the construction site.

Contractor : Lend Lease
Two towers, 30 and 40 stories high 289 and 400 feet tall (91 and 122 meters) combined with a seven-story building below, make up this magnificent residential and commercial complex.
BPDL solution: The envelope of the towers and podium consists of prefabricated concrete panels sculpted by a series of inclined planes surrounded by large windows.

Contractor: Brookfield Properties
Awards and distinctions: The Greenpoint Landing project has received several major awards, including an Award of Merit in 2019, a nomination for the ULINY Awards in 2022, and the Building the Future Award in 2024. Its iconic building — Eagle + West — also won the Diamond Award for Structural Engineering in 2022. These awards illustrate its architectural excellence and commitment to sustainable development.
Among our recent projects in New York, this 31-story skyscraper reaching 371 feet (113 meters) is one of the tallest in Manhattan's Upper East Side neighborhood.
