Boston College
Built in 1909 in the heart of Boston College, Gasson Hall had developed problems with its aging masonry: cracks, chipping of the cast stone, crumbling mortar and general wear and tear had degraded the structure and its appearance.
The century-old building needed major restoration work, planned over a six-year period, starting with the disassembly ? piece by piece ? of the top of the tower and followed by reconstruction of the spires.
More than 3,000 pieces were removed from the building, identified and drawn, then sent to the BPDL plant. New wet cast concrete components were fabricated to the highest quality standards and sent back to the jobsite for installation. The restoration of Gasson Hall is the largest ongoing restoration project in North America.
